Mastering the Art of Making Mandazi
Mastering the Art of Making Mandazi

The aroma of freshly fried mandazis filled our school kitchen last week as our students embarked on a delicious learning experience. Under the expert guidance of their agriculture and nutrition teacher, alongside our beloved head chef Harrison, they worked together to prepare mandazis—the golden, slightly sweet, triangular doughnuts that are a cherished breakfast staple across Kenya.

From measuring out the ingredients, then mixing the dough, to carefully shaping each piece and watching them transform into fluffy, golden treats in the oil, every step was a lesson in patience, precision, and the joy of creating something beautiful and delicious with their own hands.

This hands-on experience reflects our desire to see our students enjoy learning that engages all the senses and connects directly to their daily lives. When children measure ingredients, they're practicing mathematics; when they work together to knead dough, they're building teamwork skills, and when they understand the nutritional value of what they're preparing, they're developing lifelong healthy habits.

These practical lessons create lasting memories and essential life skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

Every cooking lesson, every hands-on activity, and every moment of joyful discovery requires resources; ingredients, equipment, and dedicated teachers who understand that education happens best when children are actively engaged and having fun.

Will you help us continue bringing these meaningful, practical learning experiences to our students? Your support ensures that more children can discover their potential through education that nourishes both mind and spirit, one mandazi, and one lesson at a time.
