Across the globe, January is filled with hope that the year ahead will be different than the one before. This optimism is present all the more at the beginning of a new school year. This month’s update is filled with updates regarding new teachers, students and examples of hope fulfilled!
Enjoy this month’s Field Report!
30 young men and women celebrated a significant milestone alongside friends and family. 85% of the class qualified for direct advancement to university, technical, and vocational education. We are proud of our students’ performance and who they have become.
They did it!
Preparing our Senior Leadership Program
One of the unique elements of eduKenya’s program is the SLP. By giving students the opportunity to visit multiple national parks, our students are challenged personally and community is cultivated. This month, our team is meeting to identify areas of opportunity, and how we can best engage our students.
Prayer request: For wisdom as we plan the year, and that this program will lead to lifelong impact.
New Educators
We have welcomed 4 new members to the eduKenya family. Mr. Achole, Miss Okeyo and Miss Ndwiga have joined us at the primary school, and a biology teacher named Mr. Mutinda at the high school. Once staff have accepted a position with us, they participate in a 2 week onboarding that familiarizes them with our processes and Christ-centered culture.
Prayer request: That these 4 individuals would adjust quickly, provide an excellent academic experience, and for wisdom as they invest in their students.
Farming Project in Mitaboni, Kenya
We have completed the staff housing for the farm in Mitaboni. Our staff visited the property to accept the keys and pray for the food that will be grown, educational moments that will occur, and the hearts that will be transformed. The next step is a solar powered water pump that will irrigate the property!
Prayer request: For upcoming excavation, irrigation installation, and our first seeding. In more ways than one, we hope for a plentiful harvest!
Mourning with Staff Members
We have a team of 70 in Kenya, and are honored to walk alongside them in difficult times. For multiple staff members, the year started on a sad note. Last month, one of our chefs lost his older brother, and a security guard lost his father.
Prayer request: For the God of all comfort to make his presence felt in these days, and that our staff would love our eduKenya family in their time of need.
On March 21st, we are celebrating our partnership and World Water Day 2025 with the Well Coffeehouse in Nashville, TN. If you love coffee, artwork (from our students!), and stories, you will enjoy this event.
More details to come, but mark your calendars!
Our term prayer call returns on April 3rd at 4:30pm EST. There will be a brief devotional, updates from the schools, time to pray for eduKenya’s many efforts.
