Community Sustainability

2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

The beginning of the school year was very busy for our Community Sustainability Department, which focuses on providing skills training to our learners' families, while also producing various necessities for our school. This department not only makes all the school uniforms that the students wear, but it also ventures into other business opportunities that help us equip our learners' parents to supplement their income. As new students join our school for the first time in the Play Group and From 1 classes, and as other students replace any uniforms they may have outgrown, our Community Sustainability Department works tirelessly to provide our students with their necessary attire. The price of raw materials have increased significantly this year, which has forced us to adjust our prices upwards. We are thankful however, that our parents, through God’s gracious provision, were still able to purchase the necessary uniforms for their children as per the school’s requirements.

Recently our Community Sustainability Department also began working on pencil case production and has supplied pencil cases to individuals and a local business, Toriah Africa, which recently made their 4th order with our team. As we continue to grow the pencil pouch business, our team has also started producing fleece jackets, targeting businesses, institutions and schools. We are trusting God to make more inroads with this new product as we head into our Kenyan ‘winter.’ With every success and new product, our ultimate goal is to enable our students' parents to eventually break out of the cycle of poverty and provide for their families.

We are grateful for the continued hard work of our Community Sustainability team and their dedication to passing on their skills and to the parents and guardians of our students.
