Christ Community Church of Boston, Massachusetts has, for the past two years, partnered with Mawewa School in providing an annual week-long Daily Vacation Bible School (DVBS) program. This initiative has been a time of spiritual growth, mentorship, and community-building for our learners at our Mawewa Primary School.
This year, due to political unrest and ongoing protests in the country, the church was unable to conduct their usual DVBS program. Despite this setback, their commitment to our learners remained the same.
Christ Community Church went above and beyond to continue making an impact by gifting the learners with study books.
With access to more learning materials, our students are better equipped to engage actively in their studies, develop confidence in their academic work, and reach their full potential long-term.
These resources will not only boost classroom participation but also encourage a long-term culture of reading and academic excellence.
For eduKenya, providing ‘high-quality, transformational educational opportunities for children’ means that fulfilling our mission cannot be completed in a year or two. It is the slow and steady pouring out of love, care and dedication, week after week, year after year, into the lives of children living in poverty in Mathare.
Yes, we have some short-term projects connected to our long-term mission, like developing a borehole to provide water for our future high school location, but the long-term work of providing a basic Christ-centered education to the children of Mathare is at the core of what we do. We are so grateful for our brothers and sisters in Christ at churches like Christ Community Church, who, when plans change, continue to support our mission.
When you give to eduKenya, you too are supporting the long-term transformation of the children of Mathare. Would you make a special gift today to make a lasting impact in the lives of our learners?
