Early in July, our students from Chelezo High School had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Makueni County Assembly, which is conveniently located just a short distance from our school. This field trip gave our learners a chance to witness their government in action and observe the decision making processes that directly affect their daily lives and community development.
What made this experience particularly meaningful was watching our students connect classroom lessons about citizenship with real-world applications. They observed legislative procedures, met with elected officials, and gained a deeper appreciation for the role of public service in building stronger communities.
This type of experiential learning is crucial for developing young Kenyans who understand their responsibilities as citizens. When students see how laws are made and policies are shaped, they become empowered to participate constructively in their society rather than remaining passive observers of the political process.
This post was shared on the Makueni County Social Media Platform about our students' visit:
As we continue our mission to transform lives through providing a holistic, Christ-centered, high-quality education, we are grateful for every opportunity our students have to learn and grow beyond the classroom walls. These real-world experiences are essential in preparing them for responsible adulthood and active citizenship.
Making such enriching educational opportunities possible requires ongoing support from givers like you. Your gifts, both big and small, directly impact the lives of the children of Mathare.
Each gift helps us to continue to provide a holistic education that prepares our students to become responsible, proactive citizens and leaders, who can make a difference for the sake of Christ wherever they end up working and serving.
