Our Work

eduKenya operates primary schools in impoverished communities of the Mathare slum in Nairobi, Kenya. Our dream is that every child in Mathare will be enrolled in school, and we work to make this a reality child by child.

Our approach to community development is centered on the education of children, as we believe that increasing the quality of life and protection of children, the most vulnerable members of a community, should be the starting point of development efforts. Education is a fundamental human right and powerful tool by which economically and socially marginalized children have the opportunity to break the chronic cycle of poverty.

We strive to provide a high quality and holistic educational experience that addresses the physical, mental, social and spiritual needs of students. This includes feeding and medical care programs, extracurricular opportunities and Christian education.

There is a significant need for additional schools in Mathare, as only three public schools operate for roughly 300,000 school-aged children. Thousands of children in Mathare are uneducated, idle and highly vulnerable to gang recruitment and prostitution. Our vision is to establish additional elementary schools across Mathare in conjunction with the local church.
